1970 – 1972, a student (and class monitor) at the high school attached to Guizhou Normal University, Guizhou Province; 1972 – 1978, a riveter (and secretary of a Communist Youth League Branch) at Guiyang Locomotive Factory of Ministry of Railways; 1978 – 1982, a student at the Department of Philosophy, Guizhou University; 1985 – 1988, a gradate student at Marxist-Leninist Institute, Renmin University of China; 1988 – 2001 a faculty member at Renmin University. Shi Yajun was entitled lecturer in 1989, associate professor in 1992 and professor in 1999, and has been the leader of the Organization Section, Organizing Department of Party Committee, director of Educational Administration Department, vice dean, Assistant to the President, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee of Renmin University of China. He was transferred to CUPL in 2001.
Concurrently professor Shi is also Vice Chairman of the Association of Administrative Management of China, Vice Commissar of the University Students Personal Attainment Education Committee, professor of Renmin University and Shanghai Jiaotong University.
