President, Prof. Dr Huang Jin, born in December 1958 (Lichuan City, Hubei Province), is currently the President of China University of Political Science and Law, and is the Ph.D Candidate Supervisor.
From 1975 to 1978 he was working as a member of the production team of the Liangwu People’s Commune in Lichuan County, Hubei Province. He also worked in the office of the Country Service Centre for school graduates in that province. Prof. Dr Huang studied law at the Hubei Institute of Finance and Economics from 1978 to 1982, and was awarded a Bachelor Degree. Prof. Dr Huang was enrolled in the Law Department of Wuhan University from 1982 to 1988, and subsequently received his LL.M and Ph.D degrees. In 1984, he began teaching at the Wuhan University and was promoted to the position of Instructor in 1987, an associate professor in 1988 and a professor in 1991. He worked as the Deputy Director of the Research Centre of International Law of Wuhan University, then the Director. He was also the Vice Dean of the School of Law, the Assistant President and subsequently the Assistant President with deanship responsibilities, then Wuhan University Vice President. In 2009 he took up his current position at the China University of Political Science and Law.
Prof. Dr Huang led over 20 national or international cooperative projects and was an Editor in Chief of over 40 textbooks on law. Prof. Dr Huang published over 160 academic papers on Journals home and abroad, such as Social Sciences in China, Law Science Research, Hague Yearbook of International Law, and Duke Journal of Comparative & International Law, and. His academic achievements have gained top national awards for his excellent contribution to higher education. He also gained second place for a law prize and other awards for the second and third Humanities and Social Sciences Research Achievements at a tertiary education board award ceremony for his research results in Social Science. For an individual prize, he was awarded one of the ‘Top Ten Outstanding Young Legal Scholars’ prizes, and the most prestigious award of the Baosteel Education Award for excellence in teaching, namely, ‘The Young Teacher’s Award for Excellence in Higher Education Institutions’. He was selected among the first group of prize winners for the award title of ‘National Outstanding Talents of the New Century’ in 2004
He was a Member of the Committee for Discipline Evaluation in Law Science Academic Degrees of the State Council. At present, he is a member of the Social Science Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Education, an Associate Chairman of the Construction Committee for Style of Study of the Ministry of Education, the President of the Chinese Society of Private International Law, the Vice President of the Chinese Society of International Law, the Vice President of Legal Education Research Association under the China Law Society, the Vice President of the Sports Law Research Association under the China Law Society, an arbitrator of CIETAC, and an arbitrator of the International Court of Arbitration for Sports. Prof. Dr Huang visited the Law School of Yale University as a Fulbright Scholar of USA. He also attended the Research Institute of Comparative Law of Switzerland as a visiting scholar. He was a senior law advisor for the Lawmaking Office of Macao Government, as well as an arbitrator of the Athens Olympic Court of Arbitration for Sports of CAS.
