The series forum “The Law of China” focuses on the new Lawyers Law
|
On November 22, 2007, another session of the series forum “The Law of China” was held in the hall of the Haidian Campus of CUPL. Sponsored by the Communist Youth League Committee and co-sponsored by the Graduate Committee, the session focused on the new Lawyers Law which had been revised by NPC Standing Committee on October 28, 2007, and will be brought into effect on June 1, 2008. Three eminent experts participated: Mr. Chen Guangzhong, life-long professor of CUPL, Dr. Zhang Yi, co-drafter of the Lawyers Law and vice director of the legal system of Ministry of Justice, and Professor Gu Yongzhong, vice director of Science and Law Research Institute of CUPL. They made comprehensive introduction and interpretation of new Lawyers Law, which is divided into seven chapters, namely general provisions, lawyers permitted to practice, law firms and lawyers’s rights, obligations, bar associations, legal responsibility and supplementary provisions.three authoritative experts.
