From March 13th to 16th, the Asian International Model United Nations (AIMUN2008), Peking University was held in the campus of PKU. More than 400 delegates from 79 universities of Asia, Europe and North America gathered for it. Among those were students from Yale University, Nagoya University, London Plutonomy Institute etc. Though it’s the first time in which CUPL participated, its team four has attained great success.
     The theme of AIMUN2008 was “A Cooperative World and a Harmonious Asia” with 11 organs such as the Security Council, UNESO and None-governmental Project, focused on such hot UN topics as racial discrimination and energy cooperation of East Asia. Ban Ki-Moon, General Secretary of United Nations had sent a letter to address the event. Mr. Maurice Strong and Chen Jian, former Vice General Secretary of the UN, Wang Jisi, dean of the School of international Relationship of PKU and Meng Wimin, board chairman of Xinxing Co. Ltd, Hong Kong, addressed its opening ceremony on the 13th.  
    Upon assignment, the four delegates of CUPL represented the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to participate respectively in the committee of United Nations General Assembly—Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (by Chen Xuanwen), United Nations Environment Program (by Gao Yang), Historical Security Council (by Zhou Yuehan), and NGO Program (by Sun Xuexian). 
During the 4-day conference, the four delegates successfully played their roles and pushed the conference to a win-win conclusion. Their excellent diplomatic skill and spirits as law workers were recognized by the greater number of the participants, of which the United Nations Environment Program awarded Gao Yang with one of the highest personal honors of the AIMUN2008—“the Outstanding Delegate Award”.
    The purpose of the AIMUN activities is to make the potential diplomats get known to the system of United Nations and enhance the friendship between the university students from different nations. It has been one of the most influential Model United Nations events in the world. The conference was sponsored by the School of International Studies of PKU. After this, CUPL is planning to hold its own Model United Nations conference annually.
